Using malmquist TFP index for evaluating agricultural productivity: Agriculture of Türkiye NUTS2 regions

Agriculture is one of the main economic sectors in Türkiye. Therefore, a performance evaluation essential for an improvement agricultural sector. In this study, productivity Turkish sector was analyzed years between 2006-2015. A non-parametric technique, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) based Malmquist index method, applied to calculate Total Factor Productivity (TFP) indices agriculture 26 NUTS2 (The Nomenclature Territorial Units Statistics) regions Türkiye selected 10-year period. production value used as output variable and six input variables are as: land, labor, machine, livestock government investment. The analysis conducted via computer program DEAP2.1. result reveals that TFP has decreased by 2% annually on average. maximum growth occurred 2007 2008 with mean increase 12% overall regions. On other hand, greatest regression observed 2010-2011 period decrease 13%.
